Grant Recognition
CMSA believes in the power of sport and continues to work to provide affordable and accessible sporting opportunities for the youth of Calgary. This season, CMSA was fortunate to receive the “Return to Play” Grant from KidSport Alberta and the Government of Alberta to support our entry level programming and remove barriers for our youngest participants through the CMSA Grassroots League.

The last few years have been tough for kids: 73% of Albertan kids reported a decrease in physical activity since the pandemic. The #ReturnToPlay grant helps kids return to the healthiest versions of themselves by supporting, rejuvenating, and reactivating sport programming for youth in Alberta.

About
Albertans have been missing out on sport, physical activity, and recreation due to the pandemic. The Return to Play Grant is designed to provide financial support to organizations that facilitate Alberta’s youth (age 18 and under), and families and individuals with disabilities' return to being physically active in their communities.

Funded by the Government of Alberta, and recognizing that sport, physical activity, and recreation activities are essential to an individual's physical, mental, and social well-being, this inclusive grant program supports community-based organizations in reducing barriers to help ensure youth (age 18 and under) and individuals with disabilities in Alberta can access opportunities that match their individual needs.

About the CMSA Grassroots League
The CMSA Grassroots League, serves as an introductory program to soccer for youth ages U7 – U10 and has been designed to remove barriers to participation by keeping soccer affordable and accessible. Modeled after Canada Soccer's 'Skill Centre Program', the League strives to provide children with an age and stage appropriate playing environment that allows expression, creativity, and development to flourish.

Every individual involved in soccer deserves a positive and enjoyable experience. For young players, an enjoyable experience means that they have access to high-quality programs where they can have fun with their friends, learn new skills and play the game in an appropriate format. The Grassroots League builds the foundation of fundamental skills in a fun and positive environment for young players to succeed at whatever level of the game they aspire to reach.
